A group of Guides and Senior Section from Llandudno joined together to tell local MP David Jones about the issues facing girls and young women at their meeting on 27th April 2015.
The 1st Llandudno Guides, 1st Little Orme Senior Section and Trinity Senior Section joined together to tell the Clwyd West Conservative MP and Girlguiding Caernarfonshire’s Ambassador, David Jones about Girlguiding’s Girls Matter campaign.
During their meeting, the Guides and Senior Section members had a question and answer session with David Jones, where the girls asked him questions about why he got involved in politics and what his role was as an MP and how parliament works and also asked him how he promotes Girlguiding as our ambassador.
Tryphena Cox aged 15 from Trinity Senior Section said ‘I found this evening really useful, it made us aware of how things work in parliament and politics. It was also good to know that there is someone to stand up for Girlguiding in parliament especially when a lot of us our under 18 and can’t vote and voice our opinions.’
Jessica Thurley aged 16 and Sophie Spree aged 15 from 1st Little Orme Senior Section said ‘It was nice to know that David Jones as our ambassador fully supports and promotes Girlguiding and is fully aware of everything that we do.’
David Jones MP said: ‘I was absolutely delighted to attend the meeting in Llandudno. I have been a strong supporter of Girlguiding for many years and was really excited to take part in the launch of the Girls Matter campaign at the speaker’s house. The girls were so enthusiastic to learn about the political process.’
Gill Wilkinson, County Commissioner for Girlguiding Caernarfonshire said ‘The girls asked some very relevant questions and had worked really hard towards the Girls matter campaign.
